Smith published an open-access article in International Studies Quarterly on the social ecology of sexual violence in the humanitarian sector, titled “‘It’s Just How Things Are Done’: Social Ecologies of Sexual Violence in Humanitarian Aid.” The research was partially funded by the JHU Berman Institute of Bioethics Exploration of Practical Ethics Research Grant.
