Robert Tucker, who founded the International Studies Program and the BA-MA Program with SAIS at Johns Hopkins, has passed away. Tucker was a prominent Realist, focusing on American diplomacy during the Cold War. Among his many books are THE INEQUALITY OF NATIONS, and THE RADICAL LEFT AND AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY. His perhaps best known article advocated an American occupation of the Saudi oilfields following the 1974 oil embargo. Along with Robert Osgood and George Liska, Tucker formed the heart of the international relations program at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and SAIS for many decades. The award for the best thesis in International Studies is named for him. He was 100. We extend our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
